Question of the Week

What is the Madison College Turkey Trot?

Team Matters spoke with Jason Verhelst, assistant athletic director, about the 31st Annual Madison College Turkey Trot 5K and 5M Run/Walk, and Kids Race on Sunday, Nov. 5, at Warner Park in Madison.

This event is a unique cross country style run/walk laid out over the terrain of Warner Park. Last year's event drew almost 400 participants.

In addition to the best technical race t-shirts in the area, the unique cross country style race and the top quality custom-made medals, they also have a fun 1/4 mile Turkey Trot Kids Race. Kids taking part in the race receive a free t-shirt, race bib and finisher's medal for just $12 (before Wednesday, October 18).

All proceeds from the event benefit Thursday's Child and the Madison College Foundation. Thursday's Child makes dreams come true for terminally ill children at no cost while the Madison College Foundation provides educational assistance to students. Both serve Dane County and the surrounding areas.

For more information on the event and online registration, visit the website. To get a race t-shirt and a discount on your entry fee register before Wednesday, Oct. 18. Registration after Oct. 18 is also available, including race-day on-site registration starting at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 5.
