Freshman named N4C MVP

After leading Madison College to it's first North Central Community College Conference (N4C) men's soccer championship, freshman Toby Andrews was named the league's Most Valuable Player in 2016, becoming the first player in program history to earn the distinction.

Andrews is joined by teammates Jake Andrews, Ryan Henry and Juan Martinez on the All-N4C First Team, while the trio of Jose Barron, Bachirou Lo, and Christian Munoz all received second team accolades. Seven all-conference selections is the most by any team and is a program record.

In Memoriam: Sherry Masters

Former instructor Sherry Masters, age 70, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 3, at Agrace Hospice in Fitchburg, three weeks after being diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML).

Masters was a revered and feared mathematics instructor at the college until her retirement in 2004. She successfully taught thousands of math-phobic students to come to class on time, show their work and stop talking among themselves in the back row.

Masters’ true calling and proudest achievement was her role as a caretaker for her internationally famous dog, Chauncey Poodle. They are both remembered and deeply missed by their many friends in Madison and around the world.

Donations may be made in her memory to the OccuPaws Guide Dog Association or the Jewish Federation of Madison. A gathering will take place at a later date to celebrate the life of Sherry Masters.
