Business management grad profiled

The Waunakee Tribune did a profile story on Madison College business management grad James Repasky, who now works for Summit Credit Union. Repasky described his classes at the college as “really fun” and said his teachers were “awesome.”

Cap Times interviews Gail Powers-Schaub

Gail Powers-Schaub, manager of Libraries and Academic Support Services, was interviewed for a front page story in Cap Times about Open Education Resources. This is an effort to help students offset the rising cost of textbooks.

The Capital Times highlights "At Madison Area Technical College, a student senate campaign on textbook affordability last year prompted the development of a website, launched in April, that guides instructors to open educational resources."

“It was a message loud and clear from students that they wanted a response to the fact that textbook costs are so high and going higher,” said Powers-Schaub

Madison College faculty interviews with Wisconsin State Journal

The Wisconsin State Journal is working on a story with us about blue-collar industries that need workers. Paul Flogel (Automotive Technology), John Stephany (Construction and Remodeling) and Theresa Valencia (Industrial Maintenance) are being interviewed for the article. No word yet on when it will run.

Madison College grad to appear on The Bachelorette final

Monday, Aug. 7, we learn if Madison College grad Peter Kraus is chosen as Rachel Lindsay’s fiancé on the ABC TV show “The Bachelorette.”

Kraus, who earned an associate degree in dietetics from the college in 2010, is featured on the front page of today’s Wisconsin State Journal.

McFarland Thistle highlights former student

Wyatt Vind, a former Madison College student, was profiled in a recent story in the McFarland Thistle about how he souped up his pickup truck and began winning drag races at Madison International Speedway.

Vind took classes to learn about the mechanical side of vehicles under an apprenticeship program at the college.
