Madison College is mentioned in a recent Community College Daily brief about a $2.5 million U.S. Department of Education grant that will help reduce textbook costs for nursing students.

Political science instructor comments on election

Channel 47 interviews Dr. Howard Spearman

Dr. Howard Spearman, vice president of Student Affairs, was interviewed by Channel 47 for a special report on how the college is helping students who need emergency funding for such things as utilities, rent and food. Madison365 reports on student intern's award

Madison College student intern Manny Turrubiartes is receiving the national Cooperative Education and Internship Association Achievement Award on Tuesday. Manny enrolled in the college’s Administrative Professional program and completed his internship at Sun Prairie High School. Madison365 has more on the award.

Sun Prairie Star interviews Kay-Tee Olds

Professional and Continuing Education instructor Kay-Tee Olds has authored a book about the food truck industry. Kay-Tee put together the curriculum for the Food Truck Startup and Management courses at Madison College. Her work is featured in the Sun Prairie Star.

Political science instructor weighs in on election

The spring general election is Tuesday. In Madison, voters will be deciding mayoral and state supreme court races. Political science instructor Dr. Maurice Sheppard is doing a pre-election interview with Channel 27 Monday. The report is expected to air Tuesday at 5 p.m.

Channel 15 airs new Pet of the Week segment

Animal Care Supervisor Melissa Hayden was on Channel 15 Monday morning to introduce everyone to the Pet of the Week. His name is Jack and he’s a mix breed dog. Channel 3, Channel 15 and Channel 27 stopped by the Reflections of Vietnam exhibit/presentation Friday, March 29, at Truax. Student Support Advisors Allan Locia and Christine Strub were interviewed. The TV stories air Friday, March 29, 5/6 p.m.

Lottery winners cannot remain anonymous

In case you didn’t hear, someone in the Milwaukee area won the big Powerball jackpot Wednesday night. Under Wisconsin law, lottery winners cannot remain anonymous. Why is that? 

Madison College’s Open Records Custodian and Marketing Director, Cary Heyer, talked to Channel 3 about the law. The story aired Thursday, March 28, 9 p.m., Channel 47 and 10 p.m., Channel 3.

Optimist student of the month eyes Madison College

The Sauk Prairie Optimist Student of the Month is Allison Breunig, who plans on attending Madison College to obtain her EMT license. Allison’s award was featured in the Sauk Prairie Eagle.
