STEM Academy receives media shoutout

Madison College’s STEM Academy received a shoutout on Channel 3’s “For the Record” program. MMSD Superintendent Jen Cheatham talked about how the program is thriving and that another cohort is opening at the South Campus this fall. The comments begin at 25:50 on the video timeline.

Channel 15 covers Pow Wow

Reporting and Analysis Coordinator Nicole Soulier was interviewed by Channel 15 on Saturday, April 27, about the annual Madison College Pow Wow. Tribes from throughout the Midwest took part in the event, which celebrates Native American culture.

Marketing instructor's interview airs Thursday

Marketing/social media instructor Steve Noll’s interview with Channel 3 about scams and ID theft, which was originally set to air April 22, has been rescheduled. It will now air at 10 p.m. Thursday, April 25.

Noll’s interview is part of a “Call for Action” report about a woman who was almost scammed after her husband died.

Career Pathways Liaison Annette Kornell was interviewed by the Isthmus for a story about the college’s Career Discovery Youth Camps being offered this summer. The camps focus on such topics as biotechnology, graphic design and emergency medicine.

Madison College is featured in a WisContext report that takes a closer look at the challenges refugees face when it comes to access and success in higher education. The college is described as a place that has “supportive advisors and faculty” who help refugees find both college and career success. The photo, from the college’s Matt Ammerman, is also included in the story. WisContext is a service of Wisconsin Public Radio and Television.

Madison College District Board Treasurer Shiva Bidar-Sielaff, who is also an alder, was just elected president of Madison’s Common Council. The Wisconsin State Journal has more on the change in council leadership.

President Daniels is included in Business Facilities magazine for a story about innovative programs that are helping to increase the number of graduates with STEM skills. Dr. Daniels’ quote is on the bottom of page 74.

Cosmetology program gets shout out in DeForest newspaper

The Cosmetology program got a “shout out” in a DeForest Times-Tribune story about Genesis Hair and Day Spa, which works with Madison College’s apprenticeship program. The owner says he appreciates how the college “prepares hairdressers for their careers.”
