Goodman South artwork draws more media attention

The artwork at the Goodman South Campus continues to draw a lot of media attention. A crew from Wisconsin Public Television will be stopping by the campus soon to do a story about a mural depicting African American history in Madison. Madison365 recently posted a story about the artwork.

 The Reedsburg Times-Press has a story about alum Kevin Jordan and his interactive kinetic art pieces that have been featured at Burning Man and the Toronto Light Festival.

Counselor interviewed to discuss rising suicide rates

A new study says suicide rates are soaring in America, especially in rural areas. Channel 15 interviewed counselor John Boyne yesterday about the report. The story aired at 9 p.m. on the CW Network and at 10 p.m. on Channel 15.

Remembrance ceremony promoted in media

Channel 3 and the Isthmus promoted the 9/11 remembrance ceremony at the college’s Protective Services Center. Meanwhile, Spectrum TV News is sending a crew to cover the event, which runs from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nearly 3,000 American flags will also be on display near the Health Education Building.

Madison College helps solve firefighter shortage

Madison College is helping to solve a firefighter shortage in Sauk Co. Channel 3 and Channel 27 ran stories last night about a fire academy partnership between the college and Baraboo High School that’s helping to attract younger applicants. A lot of the video that Channel 3 used in its story is from the college’s Fire Training Center.

Madison College student Makahya Drake received a Silver Ticket during her audition at Channel 27’s American Idol Tuesday night. That means Makahya is guaranteed to have her next audition in front of the American Idol judges or show producers.
