Instructors invite women to consider firefighting

Female instructors from Madison College's firefighting programs gave women a taste of the skills involved in that career on Saturday during Madison Women in Fire/EMS. Participants in the day-long workshop learned to gear-up, use a hose and crawl through a maze. They also learned the importance of team work in fighting fires. Instructors for the event included: Chief Tracy Burrus, Lieutenant Liza Tatar, Carri Holloway, Jen Blair and Hornung, all members of the Madison Fire Department.

Hornung, organizer of the event, was interviewed by several media outlets including WISC Channel 3, The Cap Times and WKOW Channel 27.

The college offers a Fire Protection Technician degree and a Fire Service Certification.
