The Dark Skies Severe Weather Seminar will be held Saturday, March 24, in Truax Room D1630. Doors open at 8 a.m. and the event lasts until approximately 4 p.m.
This seminar, hosted by the MidWest Severe Storm Tracking/Response Center and Madison College, is an opportunity to learn about severe weather that affects Southern Wisconsin. Participants will learn how to improve their skills in meteorological knowledge and weather technology.
Topics will include:
- The role of Emergency Management Teams
- General severe weather preparedness
- How the National Weather Service forecasts and warns for severe weather
- The latest satellite technology used to forecast and monitor severe weather
The Dark Sky Severe Weather Seminar is open to students, faculty, staff and the general public. Anyone who is interested in advancing his or her education and training for severe weather, emergency preparedness, severe weather safety and storm spotting will benefit from attending. This invitation is extended to police, fire, EMS and other public safety professionals as well.
