Kate Radionoff, dean of the School of Professional and Continuing Education at Madison College, explained how the college has developed digital badges for 115 noncredit courses in an article published by InBusiness.
Radionoff began exploring the possibilities of issuing micro-credentials in 2011.
Digital badges document skill sets mastered by noncredit students and can be electronically shared with employers. Students can also share them on social media sites such as LinkedIn.
As the college provides training for many local employers, participants can earn these badges to verify the skills they have mastered.
