RE: Congratulations to Dr. Keith Cornille
It is with mixed emotions that I share the news that Dr. Keith Cornille, Executive Vice President and Chief Student Services Officer, has been named the fourth president of Heartland Community College in Normal, Ill.
Dr. Cornille brings 32 years of experience in higher education to his new role, including 18 years’ service to Madison College. He joined Madison College in 2000 as director of Student Life and also served as dean for the School of Academic Advancement. He has also provided oversight of our Regional, South, Downtown and West campuses. In his current role, he is responsible for leadership and oversight of enrollment and student services, programs and services that promote student development, building inclusive learning communities and preparing students for success on the job and in the communities in which they live.
Madison College has seen many changes over the course of Dr. Cornille’s tenure. But, what has remained constant is his heartfelt, tireless advocacy for student success, in and out of the classroom. It is this advocacy that has so amply prepared him for success as the president of Heartland Community College. Dr. Cornille’s leadership is evidenced through the creation of the onsite health clinic at our Truax Campus, establishing Student Achievement Centers at our Madison metro and regional campuses, improving access for underserved and financially disadvantaged populations through the “Scholars of Promise” program, and playing a key role in the college’s plan to build a new south Madison campus. Dr. Cornille has also been a leader in creating the MMSD STEM Academy and has been at the forefront of fundraising campaigns.
On a personal note, I have had the good fortune to work alongside many individuals who have chosen to make higher education their life’s work. Few define the words “public servant” through their daily actions more abundantly than Dr. Cornille. That sentiment is echoed by Madison College Board of Trustees Chairperson Joe Hasler, who says, “I have found Dr. Cornille to be a person whose integrity and commitment to student success is unquestionable. His extensive knowledge and big heart will serve Heartland Community College well.”
Dr. Cornille will be with us until June, after which time he will begin to write the next chapter of his distinguished career. Please join me in thanking him for his service to Madison College and extending all good wishes to him and his family as they look to the future.
Dr. Jack E. Daniels, III, President
