Projects range from small updates to existing spaces to large-scale maintenance to new construction. Each project includes an overview, current status, and estimated completion date.

Project Name: D18026: Truax – New Photovoltaic System
Overview: Pursuant to an agreement with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), MG&E has granted $500,000 to a new solar Photovoltaic (PV) project at the Truax Campus. The MG&E grant funds combined with a Madison College contribution of $2,587,500 will fund a new 1.868MW rooftop PV system. The system includes 5,750 panels and will be the largest roof-mounted system in Wisconsin.
Timeline: Construction will be complete June 2019.
Project Name: D18016: Truax Campus Fire Alarm Replacement Project 2018/19
Overview: This project will expand the new fire alarm systems from the culinary addition to the remaining main campus, all floors, B, D, E wings, and large animal barn. Original fire alarm equipment will be removed after new systems are in place and operational summer 2019.
Timeline: Construction will begin September 2018 and be complete August 2019.
Project Name: D18046: Regional Campus Fire Alarm Replacement Projects 2018/19
Overview: This project will provide new fire alarm systems at Fort Atkinson, Portage, Reedsburg and Watertown. Original fire alarm equipment will be removed after new systems are in place and operational summer 2019.
Timeline: Construction has started at Portage and Reedsburg. Fort Atkinson and Watertown will begin over winter break. All four regionals will be complete August 2019.
Project Name: Portage Campus – Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Improvement/Office Addition
Overview: A small addition at the main entry plaza will provide a new ADA compliant entrance and space to expand the adjacent main office area to improve customer service.
Timeline: Construction will begin spring 2019 and be complete prior to Fall 2019 semester.
Project Name: Truax Bookstore/Duplicating Remodel
Overview: Accommodate additional programming from the Downtown Education Center (DTEC), provide necessary space for the college’s textbook rental program, and relocate the college duplication center from the second floor to space within the bookstore and adjacent to the loading dock.
Timeline: Construction will begin March 2019 with textbook rental complete by Thursday, May 30, electronics lab complete by Thursday, Aug. 15, and duplication complete in November 2019.
Project Name: Truax Academic Advancement (AA) Offices
Overview: Reconfigure existing space adjacent to the A&S Office for AA staff relocating from DTEC to Truax.
Timeline: Construction will begin March 2019 and be complete prior to June 1, 2019.
Project Name: Renovate Truax Athletics Locker/Shower Rooms
Overview: The locker/shower rooms adjacent to the gymnasium, pool, and fitness center will be reconfigured and upgraded to better service students and meet current ADA standards.
Timeline: Project in design. Completion date to be determined.
Project Name: Foundation Center-Consolidate Finance Department
Overview: Merge Finance, Payroll, and Purchasing Departments into a single connected area on the first floor of the Foundation Center.
Timeline: Construction will begin May 15, 2019 and be complete September 1, 2019.
Project Name: Truax-Convert Tennis Courts to Student Parking
Overview: Reconstruct tennis court area into student parking with lights, landscaping, drainage and sidewalk along Wright St. the project may include rebuilding Straubel Street to the Robin Roberts baseball field.
Timeline: Construction will begin in summer 2019 and be complete prior to the fall semester.
