Learn how to update Blackboard Menu after a course copy

This spring, the menu in the Blackboard template was updated to reflect the Focus on Focus principles. Though the menu has changed, faculty can still add, edit menu item names and delete unused items.

It is true that if you do a course copy, you will get all of your previous course menu items in addition to the template items. This can result in duplicate menu items.

While not ideal, there is no global, “behind the scenes” way to fix this issue. Menu items must be adjusted, deleted, renamed or moved by the course instructor.

Not sure how to do this? This handout, created by Blackboard mentor and English faculty Martha Schwer, might help. For more Blackboard training or teaching and learning support, please contact CETL at 608-246-6646, or stop in to talk with a CETL staff member or Blackboard mentor.
