Volunteers sought for Expanding Your Horizons

The Madison College STEM Center, with the collaboration of faculty, is organizing the college’s participation in Expanding Your Horizons (EYH), a conference for young women in grades 6-8 to learn about careers in science, technology, engineering and math. All female faculty and staff are encouraged to volunteer as presenters and role models on Saturday, Nov. 4.

The EYH Conference organizes small groups of girls, accompanied by a college student leader, who attend three hands-on career sessions led by presenters like you. Local sessions are held at workplaces, the UW Campus, Edgewood College and Madison College. Each career session is 60 minutes long.

Volunteers can do one, two or three sessions and select which time slots work best for them. Many presenters work in teams, so feel free to recruit co-presenters (including female students).

It’s not necessary for volunteers to know what their career session activity will be at this time.

Contact Business Technology instructor Penny Johnson by Sunday, Sept. 17, to sign up or for more information.
