Baseball team finishes season as conference champs

Three days after clinching a share of the title, the Madison College baseball team took the next step in solidifying themselves as outright North Central Community College Conference champions in 2019 with a split of their doubleheader against Rock Valley College on Tuesday at Robin Roberts Field. The WolfPack, who earlier in the day moved back into the NJCAA Division II Poll at No. 18, defeated the Golden Eagles 11-5 in the opener to claim their first N4C title since 2015 and sixth overall. The game marked the team's 16th consecutive victory, and also featured sophomore Matt Hamilton as the winning pitcher, moving him into the top spot in the record books for career wins at Madison College with 15. Game two finished with No. 7-ranked Rock Valley College earning a 9-5 decision to snap the win streak and put the all-time series at 37-23 between the I-90 rivals.
