Karen Saari, copywriter in the Communications and strategic Marketing department, had works produced or that advanced in competition all over the country. Her list of 2018 successes include:
In a Clearing, had its world premiere at The Magnetic Theatre Company in Asheville, N.C. The work was also entered in the Eugene O’Neil National Playwriting Conference. The play placed as a semi-finalist and made it into the top 18 percent out of 1,429 national submissions. It also advanced to the quarterfinals in the national Screencraft competition based in Los Angeles.
Rain on Fire, also entered the quarterfinals in the national ScreenCraft competition.
The play, Bad in Bed (A Fairy Tale), was produced at the Workshop/Developmental premiere at the Acadiana Repertory Theatre in Lafayette, La. It was also a semi-finalist in the Gary Marshall Theatre New Works Festival in Los Angeles.
Joyland, a one-act play, was produced at the Eden Prairie Players Women’s One-acts in Eden Prairie, Minn. The play was also produced at the Stray Dog Theatre New Works Laboratory in St. Louis.
Another one-act play to make the stage was, The Ones Who Stay. It premiered at the Pend-Oreilles Players One-act Play Festival in Newport, Wash.
